much. we did squeak out a very nice day yesterday when the fog cleared. today not so much. what we have is the fog and a lot of cluster. the rain is moving across the region. as you can see, it is pretty much blanketing the area until you get to the lower eastern shore. temperatures are least positive. editors on the mild side. 50 degrees at bwi marshall, 43 in oakland. the order of the day is rain. we may have a break through the afternoon. we do not expect to see a lot of sun. the rain will return before tonight. >> thank you, tim. here's a people are talking about. another tragedy for the nfl. one player is dead and another facing manslaughter charges. teresa garcia reports on what police are calling a fatal drunk driving crash. >> reporter: skidmarks along the texas roadway where police say

dallas cowboy josh brent lost control of his car killing a teammate. >> it appears as if he was traveling at a high rate of speed, at which time his vehicle impacted the outside curb of the service road to flip a least one time. >> police say brent was drunk when he crashed his 2007 mercedes early saturday morning. he's charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death of jerry brown. investigators say jerry brown was not responsive. >> when officers arrived on scene, brett was dragging brown are wrong from the vehicle. >> they were college teammates. they were reunited in october when the cowboys signed brent. in a statement, jones said, at this time of our hearts and prayers and sympathies are with the members of jerry's family and all those who knew and loved him. news of the deadly accident

critics say the move would have given him more power. police investigating a deadly shooting in west baltimore. check this out. a 22-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds friday night. medics rushed into trouble where he later died. investigators believe the victim was outside when the suspect opened fire on him. police have not released any information on who the suspect or a motive for the shooting. there is a new widespread renewal after four years in a cuban prison. here's more on what's being done to bring the man home. >> reporter: with the presidential election over

what we are dealing with here are the showers in the area really extending all the way across the top tier from the mid-portion from annapolis to the north. we start to head down toward dc. you get to where there's a little bit of a break. you can see those towers are all in green. we are with those showers all day today. the moisture is high, the dew. temperatures ranging from the low to mid 40s. as you see, 43. up to about 50 degrees. 50 marshall, 51 bc, 48 in ocean city. 46 in columbia, 48 in rock hall. the northeast wind is coming in. a low pressure areas s-sierra.

giving us that when coming in from the east. we have had several little ripples there because the front does kind of stalled across the region. there is a warm front listing on through. the front from yesterday with the warm front listing through. we have temperatures on the mild side, because of the warm front. it's the moisture across the region. the cold front comes through and brings the storms tomorrow, and then behind that the temperatures will drop. we are going to have this rainmaker right on through monday into tuesday. the researchers either clearing into the afternoon. sunset today at 4:44. north east winds at five to 10 knots. rain today. fog in the morning, 51 degrees is a daytime high. look for mainly cloudy tonight. 47 degrees with showers lingering. tomorrow couple showers and thunderstorms made me wait in the afternoon. 48 tuesday after morning

we are on the plus side temperature wise. it's just not going to be the prettiest day. live doppler radar shows what we have going on. a lot of rain moving across the state. this rain extends into the midwest and down toward taxes. as it gets into the colder air up around minnesota, wisconsin, and back toward the twin cities, it is creating blizzard like conditions. that cold air is not going to come here and that form. we are going to cool down by the end of the week. the chilly conditions don't mean snow for us. today's 51 degrees, rain, with areas of fog. at rain is with us through the evening. mainly cloudy with a little rain tonight and fought by the morning. tomorrow, 67 degrees. a couple showers leading to thunderstorms in the afternoon. we will have your five-day first morning forecast coming up in just a few moments. >> first, turning to some of the other top headlines. bible is working around-the- clock in ireland where thousands of british supporters are taking

to the streets. 2000 riders gathered calling for the british flags returned to the roof of city hall. last week lawmakers voted to remove that flag. at least 20 police officers were injured, which is the largest demonstration in years. the man behind bars in arkansas this morning charged with murdering a father and his two young daughters. police say it happened in the small town of arkadelphia. investigators believe a woman came home to find david galbraith dead along with a couple six and four-year-old daughters. but last night officers arrested a 19-year-old man and charged him with capital murder. there is no word on a possible motive for the attack. a wrong turn nearly sends a california woman hobbling off the side of the martin. police say the woman lost her way on her routine hike through a local park and trail suddenly narrowed until the ground beneath her crumble. that left her clinging to a plant growing on the side of a cliff.

nearby hikers were able to spot her and they called 911. the woman was a little tired but doctors say otherwise she will be okay. >> it is one of the biggest achievements in college football. last night the votes came in for the heisman trophy. >> and now, the 2012 winner of the heisman memorial trophy is johnny manziel. >> that's right. the texas a&m quarterback known as johnny football, johnny manziel, took home this year's heisman trophy, and narrowly beating out manti te'o, and kansas city's quarterback client made third. >> congratulations to them. think of it as a holiday celebration. one of the nicest homes you will ever visit.

>> complete coverage continues with gigi barnett and meteorologist tim williams. it's wjz, maryland's news station. >> good morning. welcome to eyewitness news this sunday morning. we are at the bottom of the hour. i'm gigi barnett. >> and then to williams. temperatures around 50 degrees. we've been taking a look outside. what you are seeing is pretty much what you get for the day. while there will be breaks in the rain, the rain is really the order of the day. if you are dressed for the rain, you will be fine for the temperatures for today. average high of about 47. the rain is across the area. the heavier bands of the 95 corridor toward elkton. just near the top of the

beltway. that's going to be with us. as you see, toward dc there is a bit of a break. don't expect for that to be a break all day long. temperatures are going to be nice -- on the nice side, we will say. 50-degree range and a little bit warmer in some parts of the area. really cool but on the plus side of our normal highs. the rain is going to be off and on through the day. we'll talk about when you expect to see a break. we'll talk about the football weather. how you should dress for fedex field coming up in just a moment. let's take a look at the other top stories we are talking about. officials at the hospital where the duchess of cambridge was treated are publicly condemning a prank that have been days before one of their nurses died. adam may has an update on the pranksters. >> reporter: fellow nurses left a bouquet of flowers and a note

expressing their sorrow outside the building where the body was found. officials at london's king edward sent a letter saturday to australian radio station condemning the actions of two of its djs. they played a hoax anything contributed to the 46-year- old's death. >> think it's terrible. >> on tuesday, a prank call from the radio host to another nurse treating the duchess of cambridge for morning sickness. that morning -- that nurse gave a detailed report to the djs impersonating the queen. >> their boss is the djs are shocked. >> this is a tragic event that could not have been reasonably

foreseen. >> the family is mourning her loss. her sister-in-law broke down describing the mother of two as a good-natured, beautiful woman. adam may, wjz eyewitness news. >> police say the death is not suspicious but they will not report how she died until an autopsy is complete. hospital officials say she was not reprimanded for transferring the call. a deadly accident leaves one dallas cowboys player dead and another behind bars. police say josh pratt was behind the wheel when his car crashed early saturday morning yesterday. jerry brown was riding in the passenger seat. he died at a nearby hospital. brent is charged with intoxication manslaughter. in baltimore, city police are asking for your help in finding a suspect wanted for a deadly hit and run. they are trying to look at the woman seen in these pictures.

they say she was captured on surveillance video at the scene. police say a car described as a black four-door mazda hit and killed a man and then took off. the crash happened back on november 17th on frankfort avenue. police say anyone with information on a suspect or even the crash is asked to give them a call. a controversial method of collecting natural gas may be on the way in western maryland soon. the first statewide conference on fracking was held this weekend, and it brought out people on both sides of this issue. >> reporter: this is hydraulic fracturing or fracking for sure. it's a new controversial method of finding natural gas in marsalis shell. in virginia and west virginia, vast amounts of farmland are being set for fracking. now they set their sights on maryland. one unanswered question remains. it's fracking safe? >> this is more than just about western maryland. do we want these ruling operations all over our state was marked

if we did do them, what would happen? than it might well runs the independent environmental group which runs this daylong conference at the university of baltimore this weekend on the pitfalls and profits of fracking. while the drilling method and is banned in maryland by order of the governor, he says fracking has wreaked havoc in other states. >> controversial because his lead to contaminated water. it's led to even earthquakes. >> while this is the first statewide conference to look at the pros and cons, some farmers in western pennsylvania and ohio, the drilling practice has paid off. by hundreds of thousands of dollars. >> i never dreamed of anything like this. >> $434,000. >> gas and oil companies have asked to drill on this farm, but she wants to study first.

fuel efficient vehicles are on display. at a time when style is taking a backseat to the fuel economy. editor-in-chief from motor trend magazine says automakers are paying close attention because more americans are in a buying mood. right now the average age of a car on the road is a loving years, the record high. >> now they are in these older cars. they want to buy a new one. they are going to start thinking about it. >> overall, consumer interest is up 54 percent. so gm is renewing its commitment of pure electric cars with the chevy spark. ford is rolling out eight vehicles that deliver 40 miles per gallon or better, including the 200014 csi that has a breakthrough three cylinder engine. ford spokesman mike lavigne. >> this engine is so small you could fit it in a suitcase but it has the performance of a standard

in something that is waterproof. if you're looking at fog and rain out there today. cool showers. the rain makes it feel so cool. technically, we are on the mild side. temperatures above average. we are going up a few degrees from there. cooler showers at fedex field dressing for the weather. ravens and redskins at 1:00. the action at 1:00. it's going to be raining throughout the day. right now the rain extending across the state. as we move further to the south and southeast, you are driving out of it. dc is read on the edge. landover right on the edge of where the rain is getting a little bit of a break. there will be waves of this rain moving through. you'll have to deal with it at one point or another. probably best to dress for the showers. you 50 degrees right now. a northeast wind at 7 miles per hour. the lows have been kicking that mr. beck. we do have 43 in oakland, 50 at bwi marshall, 48, sure.

everyone in the mid-40s to about 51. these winds from the north northeast keeping a damp flow coming in off of a. depending on how far to the east you are. not a very strong wind, but it's keeping moisture around the states. we've had several days of low-pressure riding up front that has been draped across the state. as those waves, through here, we are getting the showers. call the stairwell up to our north. it's not going to come down here and chill things down, but it will create in the short run a clash of that warm air we have in place taking us up to the mid-60s tomorrow to the cooler temperatures we have coming in. it will take us to the 40s heading into the middle of the week. what that means is that clash tomorrow is going to mean thunderstorms as you are driving home. just be prepared. the rains can be strongest in the afternoon. probably right around rush hour. temperatures today up around 67 degrees. a northeast wind at five to 10

what's going on today. good morning, sharon. spent the morning. this is more than history. this hampton mansion has been in the family for more than 200 years and they turned it over to the national park service. it's amazing because it has all of the authentic stuff in it. they are going to be doing christmas stuff here all day. it's good for the whole family. we have this dance with us. >> welcome to the hansen. >> this is something that is going to be good for the whole family. the kids will enjoy this as well. >> everything rolls off at noon. we are going to do storytelling. it's going to be in the overseer's house until you get a different perspective. everybody likes stories. we all like stories. then it is a yuletide open house in the mansion here from 1:00 until about 5:00. you can spend as much or if your kids are getting antsy, or as little time as you want. you can keep moving.

it's really neat. we will have guides in every room to tell you history. we also have crafts for the kids. and i would also have a sing- along. the sing-along is in the great hall rate here in the mansion. so you can join in, or if you want to listen to the famous tenor thing by himself, you can do that. it is very participatory. it's a lot of fun. though matter how old or young, you will love it. >> this year celebrating the bicentennial. you did something fun last night. >> last night for the bicentennial of the war of 1812, we fire a cannon off the front yard -- the front lawn. they said we were the best kept secret. the secret is literally out. we've got a big game today. we will keep the guns quiet this afternoon. we want people to be in the mansion. this afternoon is the favors war of 1812 ball. there is about eight of them. they will be dressed to the nines. you can watch them do it.
